Golang Backend Engineer

Role OverviewAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and build scalable backend and platform services powering FairMoney's core financial products. You will tackle complex distributed systems and financial processes, drive key architectural decisions, and ensure high reliability for millions of customers across multiple markets. Beyond technical delivery, you will mentor junior engineers, champion engineering best practices, and own medium-to-large technical projects from initial design to production deployment.

What You Will Work OnProduct & Platform Engineering

Collaborate with Product teams to architect and ship high-impact backend features that directly improve customer experience.

Build and evolve core platform services that allow regional markets to deploy localized features while preserving a robust core product architecture.

Design, develop, and deploy medium-to-large-scale engineering initiatives from initial design to production.

Distributed Systems & Data Architecture

Build, scale, and maintain resilient distributed systems and financial backend services capable of serving millions of users.

Design scalable solutions for complex financial workflows using modern architectural patterns.

Architect and optimize relational and NoSQL database schemas to ensure data integrity, high performance, and scalability.

Engineering Excellence & Leadership

Drive architectural and tech stack decisions to ensure system reliability and operational excellence.

Champion engineering best practices, including code reviews, comprehensive testing standards, and operational resilience.

Provide technical mentorship, coaching, and direction to fellow engineering team members.

Enhance CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, observability, and platform integrations to support continuous delivery.

Mobile & Frontend: Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) for Android & iOS | Nice to have: React Native, Next.js

Background Processing & Orchestration: Sidekiq, Temporal (Golang), RSpec

Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS (Kubernetes, Lambda, SNS, SQS)

Databases & Storage: RDS Aurora MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Amazon S3

Data Streaming & Pipelines: Kinesis, Kafka, Python / Flask (ML API)

RequirementsMust-Have Qualifications

Backend Experience: 5+ years of professional backend software development experience, with deep expertise in Golang.

Distributed Systems: Proven track record of designing, building, and maintaining scalable distributed systems and shared platform infrastructure.

Database Engineering: Strong expertise in relational database design, data modeling, SQL optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.

System Design & Architecture: Solid understanding of core software engineering principles, system design, and object-oriented paradigms.

Problem-Solving & Communication: Exceptional analytical skills to resolve complex technical challenges, paired with strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Scale & High Volume: Experience delivering high-throughput, high-availability software systems used by millions of customers at scale.

SDLC Excellence: In-depth knowledge of modern software engineering practices—including strict coding standards, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and operational monitoring.

Cloud & Microservices: Hands-on experience with microservices architectures and cloud platforms (preferably AWS, or GCP/Azure).

Domain & Leadership: Previous experience in Fintech, Banking, or Financial Services, with a track record of mentoring junior engineers and shaping technical strategy.

Stakeholder Alignment: Strong ability to gather requirements across product, engineering, and business teams to produce clear technical specifications.

Modern Tooling & Web: Familiarity with AI-native development tools, alongside optional full-stack experience (React Native, Next.js, modern web stacks).
