Description & Main FunctionsThe Drilling Quality Lead provides functional guidance and oversight across the Drill Team Quality Representative (DTQR) network. This role ensures all DTQRs are thoroughly oriented to the Drilling Quality Management System (DQMS) and equips them with the tools, training, and operational support necessary to achieve global Drill Team safety, compliance, and quality objectives.
Responsibilities
Tasks & Responsibilities
Quality Management Implementation: Drive and oversee the execution of the Drill Team Quality Management Program across all operations.
Contractor Quality Oversight: Monitor and ensure contractor compliance with established Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Manufacturing QA/QC Coordination: Collaborate with company QA/QC personnel during the equipment goods manufacturing phase.
Non-Conformance & Defect Tracking: Manage and administer the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) and Discrepancy Report (DR) systems to track and resolve quality issues.
Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigations: Lead and coordinate technical equipment failure investigations and root cause analysis (RCA) initiatives.
Documentation & Compliance: Oversee and maintain comprehensive quality and compliance documentation for all purchased goods.
QMS Audits & Assessments: Schedule, coordinate, and execute periodic Quality Management System (QMS) assessments and audits.
Requirements
Job Requirements: Skills & QualificationsEducation & Credentials
Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
Certification: ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification (or completion of equivalent lead auditor training).
Technical Expertise & Industry Standards
Quality Assurance Mastery: In-depth understanding of sound QA/QC principles and current industry best practices across manufacturing, inspection, transport, installation, maintenance, and storage of oilfield equipment.
Industry Codes & Specifications: Expert knowledge of applicable industry standards including API Spec Q1, API Spec Q2, ISO 9001, ASNT, and AMPP/NACE corrosion standards.
Inspection Standards: Advanced knowledge and application of ASNT NDT inspection practices and T.H. Hill DS-1 drill string
inspection standards.
Operations Knowledge: Deep technical background in Drilling & Completions (D&C) engineering, rig equipment, and onshore/offshore field operations.
Leadership & Administrative Competencies
Influence & Teamwork: Strong self-motivation with a proven ability to influence multi-disciplinary teams (Drill Team, Quality Team, Service Providers) without direct authority.
Organization & Workload Management: Exceptional organizational skills to prioritize programs, balance workloads, and align team efforts.
Communication & Software: Excellent business writing skills and proficiency in standard office productivity and data software.
